Capitol Hill Day is an opportunity to meet with members of Congress about topics important to nurse anesthesiology
If you registered for Hill meetings at Mid-Year Assembly*, here’s what you can expect:
- Your state association’s Federal Political Director (FPD) (or his/her designee) will schedule virtual Hill meetings with your U.S. Senators and Representative and/or their healthcare staff. Your legislators will be identified based on the address on file with AANA.
- Students who would like to attend meetings with a different state than where they are in school can contact AANA Federal Government Affairs at info@aanadc.com.
- The majority of virtual Hill meetings will be held the Tuesday and Wednesday of Mid-Year Assembly. All meetings are held during Eastern Time (ET) business hours. Most meetings will take place in person only in your legislators’ Capitol Hill office.
- FPDs will provide attendees with schedule information in advance of Mid-Year Assembly. Keep in mind that Congressional schedules change frequently, often at the last minute, so please be flexible.
- FPDs, or their designee, will assign a meeting leader for each meeting. Groups can strategize about who will say what during the State Strategy Session.
- No experience? Don’t worry! The educational program will include all the information you need to prepare. If you would like an AANA staffer to attend your meeting, just ask.
*NOTE:
On the 2025 MYA registration page, under AANA Workshops, click the 'YES' box if you'd like to attend individual meetings on Capitol Hill.
