What is the difference between Class A & Class B credit?

Class A must have an assessment & approval; Class B is more flexible

Class A credits

Class A credits ensure your knowledge and skills remain current and of the highest quality. Qualifying activities may include meetings, workshops, seminars, or online courses.

You must earn at least 60 Class A credits that meet these requirements:
  • Have a learner assessment
  • Have an approved application to AANA by the provider ("prior approved") or an application by you ("non-prior approved")

Tip: You need to earn a total of 100 credits. Class A credits over the required 60 will be counted as Class B.

Class B credits

These credits do NOT require an assessment or prior approval to ensure they meet accreditation requirements.

Class B credit activities do one of the following:

  • Enhances knowledge of anesthesia practice
  • Supports patient safety
  • Fosters an understanding of the broader healthcare environment
